Portage County Food Drive 10/21/2015 - 11/5/2015

• 1 in 7 individuals in the area is food insecure – lack regular access to safe and nutritious food
• 1 in 4 children in our area are food insecure
• More than 60% of those served by local food pantries report choosing between paying for food and paying for utilities
• Approximately 80 percent of those being served report they have a high school diploma or higher.

In 2013 more than 132,371 hot meals were served by hot meal programs and more than 13,200 families' weekly grocery needs were met by the food pantries in Portage County. Our own Campus Kitchen at Kent State University provides more than 11,000 meals each year to Portage County residents and more than 4,000 to residents of Summit County.
