    Biography

    Hadi Rahmati is a Tenure Track Assistant Professor in the School of Visual Communication Design at Kent State University where he teaches foundation through upper-level illustration courses. His research interests encompass illustration pedagogy, editorial illustration, Visual Language Design and defamiliarization. His interest in pedagogy development led him to study for a master 's degree in educational studies at KU Leuven in Belgium. Hadi earned his B.A. in graphic design from the University of Tehran and his M.F.A. in animation from the University of Tarbiat Modarres. 

    Before coming to Kent, he worked in Brussels as a design teacher for the international school of BEPS. Prior to his time in Belgium, he worked for 10 years at Soore University of Tehran as lecturer and at Semnan University in Iran as the director and associate professor of graphic design program. Hadi has a vast amount of diverse contextual knowledge in illustration, ranging from animation preproduction to editorial illustration. As such, he has 25 years of experience in the field of editorial illustration, and his works were published in magazines and newspapers including Hamshahri, Etemad, Shahrvand, and BBC Persian website among others.
