Sign up for a school visit and spend time with your future classmates and professors in the classroom, meet the school director for a tour or participate in our summer camp.
Class Visits
Sit in on our engaging classes, interact with our talented instructors and get a firsthand look at how our students learn and create. You'll be able to participate in discussions, observe innovative projects and see the collaborative energy that drives our community.
Spring class visits go from January 27, 2025 to May 2, 2025.
Tours with the school director will resume in the fall.
Discover how our programs prepare you to tackle real-world challenges and succeed in your future career. During this session, you will also gain insights into the industry, receive valuable advice and learn about the various career paths available. From cutting-edge technology in our labs to inspiring studio spaces, you'll see how we create an environment that supports hands-on learning.
These sessions are available all year, scheduled at 1:00 pm on Mondays.
For parking on the day of your Walk and Talk Tour:
- Download and print your parking pass.
- Place it on your dashboard the day of your visit, OR -
- You can stop in the VCD office the day of your visit and pick up a parking pass that we will provide for you to place on your dashboard
- If your tour includes the optional Design Innovation Hub tour afterwards, you can also download and print this parking pass for the lot closer to that building.
Design, Illustration and Photography Summer Camp
The VCD Summer Camp is offered to students entering grades 7th through college freshman, under 21 years of age at the start of camp. The camp will focus on Visual Communication Design, Illustration and Photography and is offered on Kent State University's Kent campus in Taylor Hall. The workshop will culminate with an exhibit of student work in the Taylor Hall Gallery.

Planning your visit
The tour with the school director lasts around one hour. You can join a tour and attend classes on the same day during your visit. You can participate in multiple classes for the entire day, half a day, or only for one session—it's up to you. When you arrive, park on R-3 (link below) and come to our main office on the second floor to collect your parking pass.
