Clubs and Organizations as Unique as Your Student

To a high school student, one of the most exciting — yet nerve-wracking — aspects of going to college is finding new friends and tight-knit support systems.

Many students arrive to Kent State excited to meet new people and make new friends, but are unsure of where to start — or how they will fit in. And for parents and families, wondering if your student will find their own community can be stressful! Luckily, Kent State University boasts over 350 student clubs and organizations, and over 1,000 programs, activities and on-campus events that are just as unique as your student.

When your student makes the decision to come to Kent State, they will be welcomed by students from all different backgrounds and identities with distinct passions and interests. In other words, your Future Flash will find their fit and feel right at home at Kent State!

STUDENT CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS

With everything from greek life to athletics and professional development organizations to e-sports. Here are just a few of our incredible organizations:

  • Animation and Game Design Club: Utilize emerging technology used in the video game industry as well as the animation industry, focusing on game design, animation and work to build personal and team-based portfolio work.
  • Black Squirrel Radio: DJ  your own radio show at Kent State's student-run radio station where you can create daily programming, podcasts, multimedia content and web content.
  • Chefology:  Create amazing dishes in the brand new Innovation Teaching Kitchen, learn about cooking in an education and social setting, and explore different cultures and fundamentals of cooking.
  • Flashes Elite Dance Team: Learn new techniques and skills in jazz, hip hop, pom and contemporary. Open to all students with a passion for dance!
  • Golden Flash Powerlifting Club: Meet fellow powerlifters and represent Kent State at the local, state, regional and national levels.

  • The Networking Club: Collaborate and network with fellow students and business professionals to prepare for your future career.

STUDENT IDENTITY CENTERS AND SUPPORT

Students can find support and community with any of our Equity, Identity and Success Centers and Services:

  • Center for Adult and Veteran Services : Designed to help veteran, adult, parenting and military-connected students through their college journey.
  • LGBTQ+ Center: Supports an inclusive environment on all Kent State campuses, advocates for all individuals and community groups based on sexual and gender identity, and promotes physical, mental and academic wellness.
  • Office of International Student Affairs: Dedicated to helping international students discover meaningful ways to engage in campus life through events and programs to showcase the diversity of students.
  • Student Accessibility Services: Provides accommodations to students with documented disabilities, allowing equal access to the university’s programs, services and classroom experiences.

And this is just scratching the surface of all that Kent State has to offer! Students will also have the opportunity to explore and meet these groups in person during one of our many campus events. As unique as your student may be, we can provide them a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment through any of our equally unique organizations, clubs and award-winning success centers.
