The mission of the Office of International Student Affairs is to aid in the retention and academic success of international students by providing services related to cultural adjustment and sense of belonging. Additionally, we implement strategies to help domestic students develop a global mindset and desire to study abroad.

The office also provides leadership and manages the day-to-day operations of the Global Village, an international living-learning community comprised of both international and domestic students with the goal of advancing mutual cultural exchange. Our vision is to develop global citizens through international awareness and cultural appreciation in order to strive for a more inclusive society.

The Conversation Partners Program at Kent State University is a voluntary program that pairs international students with students from the United States (i.e. domestic students/American students). Once an international student and domestic student are paired, they meet once per week for one hour. During these meetings, partners share information about their culture, home country/state/city, education, and more! The meetings between Conversation Partners can take place virtually or in-person. This program is very flexible because you are free to choose how

  • The International Friendship Program pairs international students and scholars with Kent State faculty and staff members, along with their families, for the purpose of exchanging culture in a unique and fulfilling way.
