The Office of International Student Affairs events and activities will follow the Flashes Safe Eight guidelines for Spring 2022. For more information, please visit

The mission of the Office of International Student Affairs is to aid in the retention and academic success of international students by providing services related to cultural adjustment and sense of belonging. Additionally, we implement strategies to help domestic students develop a global mindset and desire to study abroad.

The office also provides leadership and manages the day-to-day operations of the Global Village, an international living-learning community comprised of both international and domestic students with the goal of advancing mutual cultural exchange. Our vision is to develop global citizens through international awareness and cultural appreciation in order to strive for a more inclusive society.

The Conversation Partners Program at Kent State University is a voluntary program that pairs international students with students from the United States (i.e. domestic students/American students). Once an international student and domestic student are paired, they meet once per week for one hour. During these meetings, partners share information about their culture, home country/state/city, education, and more! The meetings between Conversation Partners can take place virtually or in-person.

  • The International Friendship Program pairs international students and scholars with Kent State faculty and staff members, along with their families, for the purpose of exchanging culture in a unique and fulfilling way.

  • The Global Village brings together international and American students to live and learn in an environment supportive of cross-cultural interactions. It is an opportunity for students to live and study with students from around the world and to experience a multitude of cultures on a daily basis.

  • Sponsored by the Office of International Student Affairs, the International Community Impact Award recognizes a graduating international student who has made significant contributions to the Kent State University community through activities and relationships.

  • Learn first-hand from Italian college students the role family plays in major life decisions and the cultural influences on Italian families.

  • Student Spotlights is a social media campaign created by the Office of International Student Affairs and the Global Village to highlight the experiences and achievements of international students attending Kent State University! International students, who are interested in participating, answer some questions (home country, fun fact about yourself, etc.) so that we can create a Student Spotlight profile based upon the answers provided!
