Our current (and near-future) self-use trainings

1. Self-use of the characterization facility is highly encouraged, especially for academic users. We provide trainings for most of the available techniques to qualified users.

2. Classes or workshops for brief introductions and demonstrations of the instruments and techniques (availability will be announced).

3. Available basic trainings (covering basic imaging and spectroscopy techniques, lab use guide, and lab safety policies; details can be obtained online or from the lab staff), OSHA training is required before submitting training application.

a. Basic TEM. Only open to graduate students and experienced researchers.

b. Basic AFM. Only open to graduate students and experienced researchers.

c. Basic conventional SEM.

d. Zeta potential and particle size analyzer

e. Goniometer

f. Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC)

g. Confocal Laser Scanning Microscope

4. Available advanced trainings:

a. Cryo-TEM. Prerequisite: 30 hours experience of basic TEM.

b. Freeze fracture. Prerequisite: 30 hours of basic TEM or SEM use.

c. Cryo-ultramicrotome. Prerequisite: 30 hours experience of basic TEM or SEM.

d. High pressure freezer. Prerequisite: 30 hours experience of basic TEM or SEM.

e. Electron beam lithography/Advanced SEM. Prerequisite: Experience of basic SEM.

5. Workshops on advanced topics.
