School of Communication Studies Hires New Public Relations and Marketing Assistant

The School of Communication Studies at Kent State University welcomes Mikala Lugen as a new member of the public relations and marketing assistant intern team.

Lugen is a second year public relations major and is anticipated to graduate in May 2019. She is originally from Forestville, New York, approximately three hours away from the city of Kent.

“I am so blessed to be given this opportunity to be gaining experience with marketing and public relations while also earning my degree,” Lugen said.

Throughout the semester, Lugen will be writing press releases, managing social media, editing the school’s website and assisting with special events.

Lugen is a media writer for Kent State’s Black Squirrel Radio website where she writes album, movie and concert reviews. She is also an active member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) and Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA).

“I am very excited to start gaining real-world experience in the career field I want to go into after I graduate,” Lugen said.

After she graduates, she hopes to work within music business public relations or corporate public relations.

“I am very happy to see Mikala join our team for the School of Communication Studies,” Lindsay Kuntzman, marketing and PR communication specialist for communication studies, said. “I’m looking forward to her contribution to the school and working with her.”
