The program allows students flexibility to declare a concentration, earn a minor, study abroad or gain internships and practical experience – all while finishing the degree.

Mia Barnes '23

“The thing I like the most about Communication Studies is that it prepares you for just about every career after graduation."

Mia Barnes is a Communication Studies major who is using what she’s learning in the classroom to advocate and participate in experiences that she is passionate about. She is the Senator for the College of Communication and Information in Undergraduate Student Government and is a web content and social media intern at the non-profit Let's Grow Together.

Marisa Santillo '23

"As someone who has a variety of interests, I’m thankful to have found a supportive community in Communication Studies and CCI!” 

Marisa Santillo is a Communication Studies major who is using what she’s learning in the classroom to take on leadership and various communication roles across campus. Her goal is to work in social media marketing. She has minors in Public Relations and User Experience Design.

Grace Petitjean '22

"I had never heard of a Communication Studies degree before I got to Kent State, but quickly realized it was everything I was looking for.” 

Grace Petitjean is a Communication Studies major who enjoys using the skills she's learning in the classroom to share her passions with others. She recently completed an internship with the Portage County Regional Planning Commission where she learned how essential communication skills are in a workplace environment.
