New students are encouraged to tour or schedule a visit to Kent State University, the College of Communication and Information (CCI) to learn about the campus, our schools and majors.

Parking for all of these programs is in the Kent Student Center Parking Lot off Summit Street.  Tell the parking attendant you are on campus for a college visitation program.  See the Campus Map for directions and a map of campus.

The College of Communication and Information (CCI) prepares graduates for careers in communication, design and media-focused industries. Our students select from coursework in digital technology, web development, digital film and media production, broadcast journalism, multimedia journalism, design communication, photography, photojournalism, communication studies, public relations, advertising, user experience design (UXD), human-computer interaction and more.

Hosted by the College of Communication and Information (CCI), the CCI OPEN HOUSE offers prospective students and their guests an opportunity to learn more about the majors in CCI and gain insight into exciting careers within these growing fields. The event is focused toward high school juniors, seniors and transfer students who are interested in pursuing a major in one of our four undergraduate schools. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the dean and school directors, participate in a faculty-led thematic workshop, hear from current CCI students and take a guided tour of the campus at 2 p.m. Lunch will be provided as well as a special parent and guardian session!

Campus Tours

If you haven’t seen the Kent State campus yet, we’d suggest that you schedule a campus tour on the same day as a college information sessions or school tour (see below).  Campus tours are offered daily for both undergraduate and graduate students and include a 30-minute presentation and a 90-minute walking tour. 

Preview KSU!

Preview KSU!, offered once during the summer and fall semesters by Undergraduate Admissions, includes a comprehensive visitation program for high school students and families.  Students can attend a CCI academic session as part of Preview KSU.
