Minors in Communication & Information
The College of Communication and Information offers 15 minors, most of which are open to all Kent State University students.
Media, design, technology, communication and information skills can enhance any major or career path, from business management to fashion design. And for students within the College of Communication and Information, adding a minor in a complementary CCI discipline can open up even more doors.

The Advertising minor provides students with an overview of the different roles advertising plays in society.

Applied Data and Information Minor
The Applied Data and Information minor expands on the tools you gain in your major, complementing fields such as digital humanities, fashion, media, social sciences, design and technology. It will open new and different opportunities for you.
Communication Studies Minor
The Communication Studies minor allows students to improve their speaking abilities as well as their listening, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Design Minor
The Design minor provides students with grounding in the fundamental elements of graphic design, including design research and history, graphic software, industry standards and professional ethics.
Digital Media Production Minor
The Digital Media Production minor teaches the basics of both audio and video production in either a studio or field setting.
Fashion Media Minor
This minor is for students studying either fashion merchandising or media and journalism.
Information Design Minor
The Information Design minor offers students a basic understanding of visual communication tools, theory and ethics.
Web Design and Development Minor
The minor in Emerging Media and Technology's web design and development complements a wide range of majors, including Computer Science, Fashion, Computer Information Systems, Visual Communication Design, Media and Journalism, Communication Studies and many more.
Media Advocacy Minor
The Media Advocacy minor prepares students to explore advocacy as both a professional discipline and an act of engaged citizenship by equipping them with theoretical and applied approaches for achieving meaningful social, political and cultural change through the use of media tools and concepts.
