She received her Bachelor of Nursing at Malone University in Canton, Ohio, and her master’s in nursing from the University of Phoenix. She received her Online Teaching Certificate from Kent State University. Laurie has over 37 years of nursing experience with ½ of that in Obstetrical Nursing and ½ in the Emergency Department.

    Community:
In addition to her teaching, Laurie’s service to her profession and community is marked by over 30 years of serving on several committees and volunteering with various professional and community service organizations. She volunteers with the Opioid Task Force and 922 initiative groups to help end the opioid pandemic in the surrounding counties. She works with Central Outreach Wellness Center to offer health and wellness in a judgment-free zone to enhance a patient's life. She volunteers with several local community agencies.

    Personal Note:
I love teaching and mentoring nursing students. There is nothing like seeing the light come on when it finally makes sense to them why they are doing what they do. I enjoy sharing my nursing knowledge and 26 years of staff nursing experience with the students in the clinical setting. I am an advocate for my students and do everything I can to help them become a successful Nurse.

In my free time, I enjoy my family, especially watching my grandchildren in their sports endeavors.
