
Lorie Bednar
Biography
Lorie Bednar joined Kent State’s School of Media and Journalism in 2015 as an administrative clerk in the Kent State Student Media office and in the main MDJ office.
Lorie graduated from Kent State in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English. In the past, she worked as a weekend copy desk chief for The News Herald, a copy editor, beat reporter, page designer, news editor and real estate editor for the Record-Courier and a freelancer who proofread numerous books relating to community and educational topics. Most recently, Lorie served as assistant director and then co-director of the Kent Historical Society Museum, where she was responsible for the museum’s operations, social media, media relations, event planning and quarterly newsletter.
She co-authored an investigative series in June 1996 while working for the Record-Courier that won first place for enterprise writing in the Associated Press Society of Ohio's annual contest. She is also an artist whose work has been featured locally. In addition, Lorie illustrated a book jacket for a book (Names and Naming in Joyce) published by the University of Wisconsin Press in 1994.
