2016 Wall of Fame Awards

The East Liverpool Campus Wall of Fame committee announces that nominations are being accepted for scholarships and awards to be given at the annual Wall of Fame dinner on May 6.

The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes former students and alumni for their professional accomplishments, civic involvement and community leadership.

The Friend of Kent State University at East Liverpool Award recognizes a community member for his or her efforts to strengthen our campus. 

The following awards and scholarships will also be made available to students:

  • Student Campus Service Award: Given to a current student employee of current student volunteer who has had a significant impact on Kent State East Liverpool.
  • Student Community Service Award: Given to a current student who engages in community service requirements beyond program or academic requirements.
  • Dr. Joan D. Gailey Scholarship: This $1,000 scholarship is for a student pursuing a degree in business or a business-related field.
  • Faculty and Staff Wall of Fame Scholarship: This scholarship(s) is funded through the generous support of Kent State East Liverpool faculty and staff.

The nomination deadline for the above listed scholarships and student awards is April 1, 2016.

Nomination for Wall of Fame Lifetime Achievement and Friend of the Campus deadline is March 4.

The Wall of Fame committee will recognize the contributions and academic achievements of Kent State East Liverpool students at the annual dinner on Friday, May 6 at the East Liverpool Country Club. Social hour will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 p.m. and the presentation of awards at 7 p.m. Tickets are available here!

For the second year, OTA students in the Student Occupational Therapy Assistant (SOTA) Club at Kent State East Liverpool celebrated “April is OT Month” with a community project to serve the House of Grace, a ministry of Grace City Church in East Liverpool. 

Dr. Brad Bielski, interim dean of the Kent State University Columbiana County campuses, announced that this year’s commencement speaker is Michael Reiner, who will address graduates at a combined commencement ceremony on May 10 at Beaver Local High School.

Diplomas will be presented to graduates from the summer 2023, fall 2023 and spring 2024 semesters on the Kent State East Liverpool and Salem campuses.

Ohio – just like other states across the country – struggles with providing access to mental health services, as well as a shortage of social workers. In response to this situation, Kent State University’s College of Applied and Technical Studies last year launched its Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program, aimed at addressing these significant challenges with a concentration on rural social work – a recognized need in areas where many of the Kent State Regional Campuses are located.
