Sarah Faber is a senior biology major with an interest in plant biology who is on track to graduate in spring 2023. Her experience in botany research at Kent State has inspired her to pursue a graduate degree and continue to engage in scientific discovery. “I have grown to respect the art of botany,” Sarah said. “Plants do what they want, which can be a struggle.” Sarah is grateful to be a recipient of The Dr. G. When emeriti professors G. Dennis Cooke, ’59, and Barbara K. Andreas, ’68, M.A. ’70, Ph.D. ’80, arrived at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation (MAC) Center for the Herrick Society luncheon, they were delighted to meet Samuel Large and Sarah Faber, two recipients of their scholarship for biology students.  “It was so joyful to sit there, ask them questions and hear them say how much our scholarship has helped them,” Barbara explained. At Paris American Academy (PAA) you will get the chance to study in one of the world’s fashion and design capitals. You will join field trips, workshops, lectures, and activities that are designed to expand your understanding of this exciting and fast-paced industry. In addition, you will complete a full academic course load and fully experience what it means to live in Paris and France.

Following participation in the Flashes 101 Instructor Academy, it is expected that instructors will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of “student ready” principles that support sense of belonging. 
  • Utilize teaching strategies which support First-gen, high-need, and underrepresented students. 
  • Be familiar with University resources available to support student success. 
  • Understand the challenges and needs of first-year students.
