Kent State University Assistant Professor of Painting Shawn Powell is being featured in a two-person show at Cleveland’s new Abattoir Gallery. His paintings are being shown alongside fellow Ohio artist Lauren Yeager’s photography, sculpture and installations. The exhibition will be on view from July 25 through Sept. 5, 2020. The show will have two opening reception days: July 31 and Aug. 1, 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic inspired Kent State alumnus Robert Roland Jr. to enroll in the College of Public Health’s new 100% online Master of Public Health (MPH) program with a specialization in epidemiology. The online program fits perfectly into Roland’s lifestyle as a non-traditional student who serves as the caretaker for his father, who has Parkinson’s disease and dementia.
