This year, the Kent State University Women’s Center is celebrating 20 years of service and leadership at Kent State. Over the past two decades, the center has changed its mission to respond to the changing community, expanding from a resource center for faculty to a much larger center serving students, faculty and staff, with programs addressing a wide variety of needs and interests.

The Kent State University Women’s Center will offer digital mammogram screenings to qualified Kent State employees, spouses and students on Oct. 10-13 from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. The mammograms will be held at DeWeese Health Center, Room 135, on the Kent Campus.

Each participant’s health insurance will be billed or participants may choose to self-pay.

Online final grading for Fall 2016 First 5 Weeks (F1: 8/29/2016–10/2/2016) begins Thursday, Sept. 29, via FlashFAST. Grading also is now available for any fall 2016 course section that was flexibly scheduled and has an end date no later than Oct. 2. The deadline for grading submission is midnight on Tuesday, Oct. 4. Any final grades for fall 2016 courses not reported in FlashFAST by the grades processing deadline will have to be submitted using the Grade Change Workflow.

Project AWARE Kent is an initiative to raise awareness about mental health and substance abuse disorders. Project AWARE Kent will be offering mental health first-aid courses to Kent State University students, faculty and staff in an effort to create a network of people at the university who will know how to respond and are aware of mental health and substance abuse disorders. The course is an evidence-based training that teaches people to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders. The two-day (four hours each day) course is free.
