Jeanne R. Smith

Jeanne R. Smith is the Director of the Writing Commons and a Senior Lecturer in the Department of English. She has taught College Writing, Research Writing, Honors Colloquium, Introduction to Technical Writing, Principles of Technical Writing, Advanced Business and Professional Writing, Argumentative Prose, Expository Prose, Tutoring Writing, as well as other writing courses. She Directs the Writing Commons, coordinates service learning experiences, writing center-related internships, individual investigations, guided research projects, and directs Honors Theses. She is the Past President of the East Central Writing Centers Association and co-founder of the Northeast Ohio Writing Centers Association. She holds an MA from Binghamton University. Her research interests include writing centers, reflective practice, collaborative learning, and writing pedagogy. She studies writer metacognition and self-regulation, community collaboration, and writing consultant professional development. She serves on the University Teaching Council and the Writing Program Committee.
