National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 5-October 15)

National Hispanic Heritage Month recognizes and celebrates the heritage, culture and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans.  Hispanic Heritage Month begins on September 15th to commerate Independence Day for five Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Hispanic Heritage month began in 1968 as National Hispanic Heritage week. In 1988, it was expanded to a month-long celebration.
