I am very interested in the university’s Employee Separation Plan (UESP), but I am unable to attend the April 3 general sessions on the Kent Campus. How can I receive information about these meetings?

The April 3 meetings will be streamed live and recorded so employees can watch from their desks and view replays afterward. Employees will be able to gain access to the streaming link and to the recording on the HR home page on April 3.

Kent State University will again participate in the On the Move Challenge, a 12-week, national corporate competition. This physical activity challenge is like no other in that the points you earn as an individual will get your team, Team Kent State, one step closer to a designation as one of the most active employers in the country. Last year, we finished 29th in this national competition. In 2017, we can move up that leader board.

The 20-Year Service Award Program will be held on Thursday, May 25, at 5:30 p.m. in the Kent Student Center Ballroom. The awards program is an annual event established in 1966 to honor classified and unclassified employees who have dedicated 20 years of continuous service to Kent State University.

Friends, family and co-workers join in honoring inductees at an awards dinner each year. Upon reaching their 20-year milestone, employees may select either a chair for home or office, a bench or a tree to be placed on campus in their honor.

This spring, representatives from Human Resources and other departments will be holding KSU for You visits at all Regional Campus locations. The goal of KSU for You is to enhance connections with faculty and staff on the Regional Campuses and to better facilitate institutional knowledge sharing.

Each KSU for You visit will include a mix of presentations, training, meet and greets, and informational tables, along with members of leadership from various divisions.

Dates are as follows:

Save the date now for the Office Support Staff Recognition Program, to be held Wednesday, April 26, from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the Kent Student Center Ballroom. This luncheon recognizes university employees who provide office support throughout Kent State University’s campuses. Invitations will be mailed the first week in April.

Managers and supervisors should schedule coverage in their respective units so invitees may attend.

It is not necessary for employees to use their vacation or sick time for these types of events. Any employee who wishes to attend a university-sponsored event only needs to seek permission from his or her supervisor to leave the work site. Supervisors, as is the case for any leave request, will make their own decision on granting the leave based upon their need to operate effectively and efficiently.

The university will provide paid parental leave to employees to recover from childbirth and/or to care for or bond with a child. This policy applies to all full-time, benefits-eligible employees who are not in a recognized bargaining unit. To be eligible for paid parental leave, an employee must have become a new parent as a birth mother, birth father, adoptive parent, domestic partner or foster-care parent with legal custody or guardianship.

Kent State University’s Division of Human Resources will partner with the Office of Sustainability to host Shred-Mania on Wednesday, March 22, from 7:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Ice Arena parking lot, as part of the RecycleMania competition.

We all encounter daily stressors – traffic, work deadlines and family obligations are just a few. Sometimes it feels like we can’t escape the stressors around us. On Thursday, Feb. 16, from 10-11 a.m., the first of a three-part webinar series, Stress Management That Works: Session 1, will help you become more aware of when you are feeling stressed and provide some easy techniques and strategies on how to cope with stress in your life and its effect on your body.
