Kent, OH – Kent State University School of Theatre and Dance alumna Tracee Patterson, ’13 MFA was presented with the Ambassador Tony P. Hall Student Advocacy Award on Sept. 17 at the first annual Ohio Hunger Dialogue held at Walsh University in North Canton. The award recognizes students and universities addressing the issue of hunger in new and innovative ways in Ohio.

Honors College students took a trip back in time to the Renaissance era to experience the works of William Shakespeare in a similar manner a playgoer during the Elizabethan era would have enjoyed.

Students enrolled in an Honors course called “Shakespeare in Performance” traveled to the American Shakespeare Center in Staunton, Virginia from Oct. 17 to Oct. 19 where they received the opportunity to expand their learning about Shakespeare plays and performances outside of the classroom.

Kent, OH – Kent State University’s School of Theatre and Dance will present its annual faculty dance concert, “Dance ’14: In Flow”, Nov. 21-23, 2014 in E. Turner Stump Theatre, Center for the Performing Arts. Fri. and Sat. performances are at 8:00 p.m.; Sun. performance is at 2:00 p.m. The evening of choreography created by dance faculty members also features guest choreography by Tony Award winning choreographer Garth Fagan.

Cuyahoga Falls, OH - Porthouse Theatre, Kent State University’s outdoor, summer theatre located on the grounds of Blossom Music Center, will celebrate its 46th season with productions of My Fair Lady, Starmites and Oliver!

Kent, OH – The School of Theatre and Dance at Kent State University begins it 2014-2015 season with the Pulitzer Prize-winning play “You Can’t Take It With You.” As part of the school’s annual Roe Green Director Series, the School welcomes guest director Kathleen F. Conlin. The production runs Fri., Oct. 3 and runs through Sun., Oct. 12 in Wright-Curtis Theatre, located in the Center for the Performing Arts, 1325 Theatre Drive, Kent, OH 44242.

Transforum Theatre, a student organization in Kent State University’s School of Theatre and Dance, performed last month at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Edinburgh, Scotland. Dedicated to helping students pursue their passions and explore their creativity through art, Transforum Theatre was invited by the Edinburgh Festival Fringe to perform an original work, “A Collection of Grimm’s Fairy Tales,” at the Greenside @ Nicholson Square venue Aug. 18–23.
