Celebrating 30 Years of Encouraging New Voices

Dear Friends,

This September we will celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the Wick Poetry Center and dedicate the poetry park and our new home in the May Prentice House on the Lester A. Lefton Esplanade. We are excited to invite all of you to come to Kent State September 25-27 to celebrate three decades of encouraging new voices at the university, in the community, and around the world.

Below is an anniversary events schedule, which features the Stan and Tom Wick Poetry Prize reading with Mark Doty and Oliver Bendorf, the Dedication of the May Prentice House & Poetry Park with President Beverly Warren, and Wick Alumni poetry readings. All of these events are free and open to the public.

Below is also an invitation to our thirtieth anniversary celebration dinner. The night will include a buffet dinner, dancing, and poetry, as well as speeches, an outreach performance, and a silent auction. This event is $50 per person and you can register online or by sending a check to the Wick Poetry Center at 301 Satterfield Hall, P.O. Box 5190, Kent, Ohio 44242, with a note to let us know who will attend.

If you are unable to attend the anniversary events, you can still donate to the Wick Poetry Center.

For those guests coming from out of town, we recommend staying at the Kent State University Hotel and Conference Center, where a limited amount of rooms have been held for anniversary guests for a discounted rate (the reservation code is WPC 30). Other nearby hotels include the Holiday Inn Express and Hampton Inn.

For the latest details about the anniversary, make sure you follow us on Facebook. And feel free to contact us at wickpoetry@kent.edu or 330-672-2067 for more information.

In Peace and Poetry,

David Hassler, Nicole Robinson, and Jessica Jewell
