The Kent State University Women’s Center will host the ninth annual Mothers, Mentors and Muses Scholarship Fundraiser Reception. The event will take place at the Kent State University Hotel and Conference Center on April 3rd, 2018 from 5-7:30 p.m. The guest speaker for this year’s event is Stephanie Smith, Former Senior Intelligence Service Executive n the CIA and current Kent State Faculty Member.
Mothers, Mentors and Muses is the Women’s Center's signature event that recognizes Kent State University female-identifying faculty or staff who have made a significant difference in the life of a student or colleague. More than 375 women across the university have received this honor.
This award is intended to honor female-identifying faculty or staff of Kent State (with five or more years of service) who have served in any of three roles:
Mother – one who has helped “birth” ideas, thoughts and academic endeavors in others, or who serves as a nurturing individual to others.
Mentor – one who serves as a trusted counselor, colleague and/or role model.
Muse – one who inspires creativity and artistic/academic passion in others.
The Women’s Center, which was established in 1996, supports women in their academic careers. Funds raised at the event will fund $500 scholarship awards for two Kent State female or female-identifying students. This scholarship has benefited 25 students since its introduction in 2003. Register early, space is limited!
