Office of Gender Equity and Title IX

The university is committed to fostering safe and inclusive living, learning, and working environments free from discrimination and harassment for all students, staff, and visitors. Title IX of the federal Education Amendments of 1972 prohibits discrimination on the basis of a person's gender in educational programs or activities at institutions that receive federal funding, such as Kent State. While it is often thought of as a law that applies only to athletic programs, Title IX is much broader and protects all students, employees, and visitors from gender discrimination.
