Classroom Instruction Methods for Fall 2021
Instructional method for each course is one of the following:

In-Person
In Person
- In-Person courses have 100% in-person class meetings on set days and times and are held in set locations.
- In this example, students will meet in-person on Tuesdays from 6:35 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. in the Business Admin Bldg, room 117.

100% Online - No Set Meet Times
100% Online - No Set Meet Times
- Online asynchronous courses are Kent State’s fully online distance learning courses with no set meeting times.
- Since these courses are online/asynchronous-no set meeting times, the days and time read "TBA" and location reads Web Course meaning there is no specified location.
- A distance learning course fee is attached (students can view the fee by clicking on the $ icon for the course section)
- In this example, the student can work on all course materials (including videotaped lectures as appropriate) at a time that is convenient for them. An instructor is available to help guide the student through the course. There are no live sessions.
- Online asynchronous courses are Kent State’s fully online distance learning courses with no set meeting times.

- Online synchronous courses are Kent State’s fully online distance learning courses with set meeting days and times.
- Since these courses are online synchronous-set meeting times, the days and time are listed, and the location reads Web-Course.
- A distance learning course fee is attached (students can view the fee by clicking on the $ icon for the course section).
- In this example, the student will meet online on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.
- Online synchronous courses are Kent State’s fully online distance learning courses with set meeting days and times.

Partially In-Person
- Partially In-Person courses meet in-person and either online or remote, as determined by the instructor. These courses have one or more required in-person class meeting and have some online or remote sessions that could be asynchronous/no set meeting time or synchronous/set meeting time).
- If Web-Course is listed as the location, this means that part of the course meets online and students will be charged a distance learning course fee (students can view the fee by clicking on the $ icon for the course section).
- In this example, the course meets in-person on Mondays from 7:45 a.m. to 8:35 a.m. in Bowman Hall, room 133. The course also meets synchronously/set meeting times online on Wednesdays and Fridays from 7:45 a.m. to 8:35 a.m. and since it is an Online/Web-Course students will be charged a distance learning course fee.
- If part of the course is remote there is NO distance learning course fee attached
- Remote class meeting times are identified with Web-Meeting in the location.
- In this example, the course meets in-person on Mondays from 5:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. in the Center for Visual Arts, room 191. The course also meets synchronously online/set meeting time on Wednesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. and since it is a Remote/Web-Meeting students will not be charged a distance learning.
Instructional Methods implemented due to COVID-19 solely for the fall 2021 term:

100% Fully Remote-Set Meeting Times
100% Fully Remote-Set Meeting Times are fully online courses with no days/times where instructor and students meet online at the same time (asynchronous).
Location of the class delivery:
- Building and room on a Kent State campus (e.g., BOW 102). Buildings that begin with “X” are other Kent State locations (e.g., XNY is the New York City location; XFL is the Florence, Italy, location).
- Web Course indicates the course is fully online with no on-campus meetings.
- Web Meeting indicates the course was originally scheduled to be in person but, due to COVID-19, is offered remotely.
- Off Site is in person at a location other than a Kent State campus or location.
- TBA indicates the location has not yet been scheduled.
