Joseph Nolker is a second-year ADN student who decided to become a nurse because of a life-changing event.
Working as a corrections officer for the State of Ohio, Nolker was rushed that day to an emergency room on with a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurism. While in the ER, the charge nurse’s quick actions helped stabilize him enough that the surgeon could perform the surgery Nolker needed.
“A nurse saved my life on September 14, 2009,” he said. “I would like to, ultimately, work in pediatrics as a registered nurse while gaining the experience necessary to continue my education and reaching my ultimate goal of becoming a CRNA.”
Nolker is a senior and is from McDonald, Ohio.
