EL 100 Club Seeking New Members
Kent State University at East Liverpool has been a bright spot of downtown East Liverpool for almost 50 years. Community members and leaders generously support the campus by donating their time and talents, along with financial contributions such as those made through the 100 Club.
Established in 1985, the 100 Club was created at the suggestion of then Kent State Advisory Board member William Barker. His idea was that the $100 club membership fee be directed at scholarships and other special campus projects.
The 100 Club has donated more than $300,000 to Kent State East Liverpool for scholarships over the last 29 years, providing crucial assistance to students who demonstrate financial needs and who are dedicated to pursuing higher education degrees. “The 100 Club made it possible for hundreds of students to enrich their lives by pursuing their dreams and giving them the ability to provide for their families,” said Chairman Tom Snow.
Aside from providing hundreds of scholarships, the 100 Club also acquired and renovated the Mary Patterson Memorial Building on Fourth St. The building was gifted to Kent State East Liverpool to house the campus’s allied health programs and is now home to the nursing, physical therapy and occupational therapy programs, along with faculty, administration and staff offices.
“The contributions the 100 Club has made during the last five decades cannot be overstated,” noted Steve Nameth, dean of the Kent State Columbiana County campuses. “Kent State East Liverpool has flourished, in part, through the support and generosity of the advisory board and the 100 Club members. Starting with 125 students in 1965, enrollment here has grown to more than 1,600 students. This Kent campus provides access to higher education for individuals in surrounding communities who otherwise would not have the opportunity to further their education.”
The 100 Club welcomes new members to continue supporting Kent State East Liverpool, its students and the community. Anyone interested in joining the 100 Club can contact Candy Solterbeck at email@example.com or 330-382-7416.
