University Dining Services Executive Chef battles in ACE Competition

Campus Executive Chef, Billy Edmondson, was a finalist in the Aramark Culinary Excellence competition in Philadelphia Wednesday. Over 100 chefs participated in multiple phases of the national ACE competition and Chef Billy was one of 15 finalists.

During the competition, Billy cooked alongside chefs from Boston University and University of North Carolina Wilmington. Billy and his team created a four-course menu based on a basket of 16 mystery ingredients. Their creations were evaluated and scored by judges from the American Culinary Federation (ACF), the largest professional chefs’ organization in North America.

The Sports & Entertainment team won the overall competition and $10,000 donation to Hope Center for College, Community and Justice. However, Team Education and the three other competing teams did not walk away empty handed. All four teams also won a $5,000 donation to Hope Center for College, Community and Justice.
