Ph.D. Program Annual Review

The progress and performance of all Ph.D. students is reviewed annually. During the first three years, this involves both a self-assessment and a faculty assessment using a standard protocol form.

  • Students in their first year of the Program complete a Year 1 Ph.D. Student Self-Assessment and Progress Report and submit to their advisor, with a current curriculum vitae (CV);
  • Students in their second year of the program complete a Year 2 Ph.D. Student Self-Assessment and Progress Report and submit to their advisor, with a current curriculum vitae (CV);
  • Students in their third and subsequent years of the program complete the Year 3 Ph.D. Student Self-Assessment and Progress Report as outlined below, and submit to their advisor, with a current curriculum vitae (CV).

Year 1 Ph.D. Student Self-Assessment & Progress Report

The Year 1 Ph.D. Student Self-Assessment and Progress Report will be completed by the student as a self-assessment and submitted to the student's advisor, together with a copy of a current CV, by June 1 of the first year of study. All program faculty will conduct a review of each student's progress and performance. Written and oral feedback about Year 1 student progress will be provided in a conference with the student’s advisor by the beginning of fall semester in Year 2.

Year 2 Ph.D. Student Self-Assessment & Progress Report

The Year 2 Ph.D. Student Self-Assessment and Progress Report will be completed by the student as a self-assessment and submitted to the student's advisor, together with a copy of a current CV, by June 1. All program faculty will conduct a review of each student's progress and performance, and written and oral feedback will be provided in a conference with the student’s advisor.

Year 3 and Beyond Ph.D. Student Self-Assessment & Progress Report

The Year 3 and beyond Ph.D. Student Self-Assessment and Progress Report will be completed by the student as a self-assessment and submitted to the student's advisor together with a copy of a current CV, by June 1. All program faculty will conduct a review of each student's progress and performance. Written and oral feedback will be provided in a conference with the student’s advisor by the beginning of fall semester.
