  • Complete all required 20000 level FDM courses
  • Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA

APPLICATION DEADLINES

Please make a note of the following deadlines. Sticking to these will give you the best chance of getting a place on our Paris Study Away program. 

  • Pre-approval application: September 15 - December 15
  • Paris Summer Commitment Contract: January
  • Paris Semester Program application: February 1
  • Deadline for your program fee: 
    • Summer: February 1
    • Fall: March 1
    • Spring: July 1

How to Complete Your Office of Global Education Application

This application allows us to put you forward for a place on the Paris Study Away program. The Office of Global Education has put together a detailed step-by-step guide on how to complete your application – but if you’re using Chrome, you may have trouble opening the PDF. Below is a quick run through of how the process works.

How to Complete Your Paris American Academy Application

The aim of this application is to get you a place on the Paris American Academy program. Here’s how the process works. 

Other steps you’ll need to take:

Passports

  • You need a passport to travel to Paris. If you don’t have a passport, it’s important you apply for one as soon as possible. You can do this at a Passport Application Center – visit the State Department website to find a Passport Application Center near you. You’ll find more information on required documents for the passport application here. 

  • If you already have a passport, please check its expiration date. It must be valid for at least six months after the date you’re due to return to the U.S. If it isn’t, you’ll need to renew it – you can find renewal guidance at the State Department’s website and you’ll also need to re-apply for an adult passport if yours was issued when you were 16 years of age or younger.

Semester program

US passport holders will need a visa to take part in the Paris semester program. You won't be able to apply for one until you've received you Paris American Academy acceptance letter. You can find more information here. 

Summer program

US passport holders won’t need a visa.

International Student Visas

If you’re an international student, you may need a visa to study in France. Please check the French Embassy or Consulate in your home country to check your immigration requirements.

Paris Summer: Steps 1-4

How to apply for Paris Summer

Step 1. Get advice:

  • Speak to your academic advisor to make sure you’re eligible.

Step 2. School of Fashion pre-approval application:

  • Complete the pre-approval application, which will be available from September 15 to December 15.

Step 3 - Commitment contract

  • After we’ve approved your pre-approval application, we’ll send you your commitment contract - a formal agreement letting us know you’d like to take part in the Paris Summer Study Away program.

Step 5: Program fee:

  • When we receive your Commitment Contract, we’ll ask you to pay the Program Fee by the deadline to secure your place. You’ll need to do this online with a credit card. If you miss the deadlines to submit your contract and pay your fee, you’ll be dropped from the program. 
Paris Semester: Steps 1-6

How to apply for Paris Summer

Step 1. Get advice:

  • Speak to your academic advisor to make sure you’re eligible.

Step 2. School of Fashion pre-approval application:

  • Complete the pre-approval application, which will be available from September 15 to December 15.

Step 3- School of Fashion program application:

  • After we’ve approved your pre-approval application, we’ll send you the next steps to complete your program application. You’ll also need to submit a one-page resume and an essay on why you’d like to study away at your selected location. It’s very important you do this by the deadline above, or you’ll be dropped from the program. 

Step 4. Office of Global Education application:

  • After we’ve approved your pre-approval application, we’ll send you the next steps to complete your Kent State University Office of Global Education (OGE) application. This will allow you to be officially nominated as a guest student to Paris American Academy (PAA).

Step 5. Paris American Academy application:

  • After you’ve been nominated to Paris American Academy, OGE will send you the PAA application. You’ll need to complete this application to be officially accepted to the program, and it’s important you meet the deadline to avoid getting dropped.

Step 6: Program fee:

  • Once your applications are complete, you’ll need to pay the program fee before the deadline to keep your place. You do this online with a credit card.
Steps 1-6

Step 1:

  • The Office of Global Education will send you an application link once your pre-approval application is completed. Alternatively, go to Terra Dotta and search for ‘Kent State: Paris American Academy, Summer’ or ‘Paris American Academy Semester’.

Step 2:

  • Click ‘Apply Now’ and follow the prompts to be taken to the application page.

Step 3:

  • Fill out the components of the application checklist – a check mark will appear when you complete each item. You can exit any time and finish your application at a later date. 

Step 4:

  • You’ll be asked for several documents, including: 

    • Material Submissions: You must turn in physical or electronic copies of these documents to the Office of Global Education. When the office receives your documents, a staff member will check off that material.

    • Signature Documents: You’ll need to acknowledge that you’ve read these documents with an e-signature. Please read these carefully. As you e-sign them, they’ll check off automatically.

    • Application Questionnaires: These online questionnaires ask you for certain information or to upload certain documents. They’ll be checked off once you submit the questionnaire.

Step 5:

  • When all your items have check marks, your application is complete.

Step 6:

  • You’ll continue to see new parts of the application open that you’ll need to complete. These may come up before, during and after your Study Away program.

Steps 1-3

  1. The Office of Global Education will let you know if you’ve been nominated within two weeks of the Paris American Academy deadline. They’ll send you a link to the application. 

  2. You’ll need to complete the application for the semester you plan to study away.

  3. If you’ve been accepted, you’ll receive an official acceptance to the exchange program by Kent State University and Paris American Academy.
