Kent State School of Fashion to Induct Fashion Designer Omar Salam Into Hall of Fame
Omar Salam, founder and creative director of the global fashion house SUKEINA, will be making a special trip from the runway to Kent State University’s Rockwell Hall as Salam has been named the 2023 inductee of the university’s School of Fashion Hall of Fame.
Olivia Meyer, junior Honors College fashion merchandising student, is designing her own success at Kent State and abroad. “I think what I'm most excited for is the unknown,” she muses.
Students Address Real Issues Facing the Fashion Industry
Two School of Fashion students were recognized recently by the Fashion Scholarship Fund (FSF) as 2023 FSF Scholars.
The annual FSF Case Study Scholarship is the Fashion Scholarship Fund's signature program, asking applicants to address real issues facing the fashion industry today. This year, the organization recognized 127 FSF Scholars from colleges and universities across the United States. In addition to a financial award, FSF Scholars receive access to internships and full-time jobs through partner companies and enjoy ongoing professional development and support.
Kent State University’s School of Fashion held its first show ever during New York Fashion Week this fall with a creative partnership. Kent State University invited International Fashion Academy (IFA) Paris and International Migration Organization (IMO) to join them with the goal of bringing awareness to the world’s most prestigious fashion schools and the impact of global cultures.
