Costs and Housing
How much does the Kent State Florence program cost?
- All students participating will pay Kent State Tuition. The cost of attendance for this program varies on the length of your program.
Can I utilize financial aid/scholarships?
- There are opportunities for students to use consortium agreements or direct billing (to utilize their financial aid/scholarships from their home institutions).
Where do I stay while living in Florence?
- Kent State University arranges housing accommodations on behalf of students prior to their arrival in Florence. Students stay in apartments throughout the heart of Florence. Apartments are fully furnished with bed linens, a kitchen, washing machine, tv and wifi. Apartments are shared with two to eight other students in the program, gender-inclusive housing is available and it is possible to submit a roommate request.

What courses are offered in Florence?
- Courses offered during the Florence Semester program are standard and offered each semester. View semester course offerings.

How will my courses transfer back to my home institution?
- While studying at the Kent State Florence Center you’ll be able to take courses that will transfer back to your home institution. The Kent State Florence program coordinator can work with you one-on-one to assist with the course evaluation process at your home institution and provide guidance through the course registration process at Kent State.
Support and Resources
Is there any assistance available with visa application?
- Most students studying in Florence for a full semester will be required to apply for a visa. The Kent State Florence program is able to provide guidance through this process and also offers group processing for students committed to the program.
How do I get to Florence?
- Students can choose to travel to Florence with a group of Kent State Florence students and a group flight leader. The group flight is coordinated by a local travel agent who handles all the logistics and is on-call during the students’ travel day.
Is international health insurance available?
- All students who participate in the Kent State Florence program are enrolled in an international health insurance policy that provides coverage for any international destination where the student may travel during their time abroad.
