The Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander Faculty and Staff Alliance (AAAPI FASA) is an Employee Resource Group (ERG) within the Division of Human Resources. Our mission is to build and foster a community that promotes AAAPI cultures and values. We are committed to supporting its members’ needs and voices. In collaboration with other initiatives of diversity, equity, and inclusion, we host programs and events, creating sites for empathetic and effective allies.

World Poetry Reading

Tuesday, March 21, 7 p.m.

Nowruz is a celebration of the New Year observed in many countries along the Silk Road, including Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, India, Iran, Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.  In association with different local traditions, they hold diverse events and festivals. 

In 2023, Nowruz falls on March 21, the day of the Wick Poetry’s World Poetry Reading: 7 p.m., Room 120, CAED, College of Architecture and Environmental Design. Participants are Kent State students, faculty, and staff from all over the world, including France, Brazil, Kyrgyzstan, Japan, Lebanon, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Iran, Malaysia, Bolivia, Macedonia, Morocco, Pakistan, and Italy. The Glauser String Quartet will play world music. Please join us to celebrate Nowruz and World Poetry Reading.

Modern Japan - Cleveland Museum of Art

Japan went from being an isolated country operating under a military regime to a country with imperialist ambitions and a representative government almost overnight. Artists who had worked within traditional patronage and workshop systems found themselves competing in a global arena and redefining what it meant to create “Japanese art” in the modern world.
