Katie Mattise, M.S., serves as the Assistant Director for Kent State University’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Questioning (LGBTQ) Student Center. In this role, they work with the Director to provide programming, support, and advocacy for students with marginalized genders and sexualities or those wishing to engage with topics related to those identities.
Katie earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Pittsburgh. Later, they earned a Master of Science in Cultural Foundations of Education from Syracuse University. Prior to this role, they spent the past five years working in Residence Life at Hiram College and then Syracuse University.
Outside of work, Katie plays both video and board games, tries to consistently work out, and enjoys watching various things on Netflix. They are really excited to connect and talk with students, so make sure to stop by the LGBTQ Center to say hi!
