You can dig a hole to China. However, it’s more practical and affordable to visit China as a student in Kent State University at Trumbull’s Study Abroad program. This week, three students are traveling nearly 7,100 miles to the Sichuan University Summer Immersion Program, located in Chengdu, China.

Junior, Alex Hatfield, is one of those students. He was excited to learn about the opportunity and was appreciative that faculty and staff encouraged him and other students to take advantage.

Kent State University’s current Police Academy cadets recently scored a collective 100 percent on their State of Ohio Physical Fitness Assessment. Only 12 of the 29 cadets, formally known as BAS 17-016, initially passed the assessment on Feb. 6 at the beginning of the program.

“They made a commitment to one another,” said Class Commander Wayne Parker, Sergeant with Kent State University Police Department. “As a gesture of good luck for their final assessment, one of the cadets had athletic socks made for all 29 cadets with their class number stitched in them.”

Kent State Trumbull Offers Workshops for Individuals Who Want to Start Nonprofits

This summer, Kent State University at Trumbull and its Gelbke Library have assembled two free workshops to help individuals who are interested in starting a non-profit and attaining grants.

“Is Starting a Nonprofit Right for You?” will be held on Tuesday, July 11 from 9 a.m.-Noon in room 117, Kent State Trumbull’s Technology Building, located at 4314 Mahoning Ave. N.W. in Warren.

(Warren, OH) Frank Lindsay, Kent State Trumbull’s Manager of Information Technology, has always been looking for ways to help others. When his father, Frank Lindsay, Sr., was losing his battle with cancer in 2000, he began admiring the work of hospice organizations and noticed how they made a difficult time a little more tolerable.

Dr. David Hacker, associate professor, Department of Geology, Kent State University at Trumbull, has been named one of this year’s President’s Faculty Excellence Award recipients.  This annual award is given to a small number of tenure-stream faculty across the entire Kent State University system for outstanding research, scholarship, and creative activity; remarkable teaching; and/or exemplary service with national or international significance.

Ms. Kayleigh Crumb has been an excellent choice as the first student to receive the recently endowed ‘Elizabeth Z. Bartz Scholarship for Howland Tigers,’ given to a graduate of Howland High School and entering Kent State University at Trumbull Campus as a freshman.

Kent State University at Trumbull hopes to provide valuable resources, opportunities, and wellness information to students and the community during Fair Week, April 25-27. All of the fairs will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Lower Commons and Student Union, located in the campus Classroom/Administration Building.

Commencement happens Saturday, May 13 at Packard Music Hall

(Warren, OH) Kent State University at Trumbull proudly announces Congressman Tim Ryan as its 2017 Spring Commencement speaker. Close to 100 of the more than 200 students graduating this spring will participate in the ceremony, which will be held Saturday, May 13 at 6:00 p.m. in Packard Music Hall, 1703 Mahoning Ave. in Warren.
