Jan. 26 – All Kent State Campuses Closed
All Kent State University campuses will be closed Monday, Jan. 26, due to expected snow. The College of Podiatric Medicine and the Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative will notify their students and employees with separate guidance.
CLASSES
For online classes: All classes offered online will continue as usual.
For in-person classes: In-person classes will not meet in person. However, instructors teaching in person have the option to conduct a synchronous online session and/or assign appropriate asynchronous work. Before the class is scheduled to begin, instructors will alert students by email or Canvas about the expectations for their participation during the closure.
- After checking their email and Canvas, students who need additional guidance should contact their instructor.
- Students in special classes, such as clinical rotations, should check with their instructor or placement supervisor on the appropriate procedures for an early morning delay or cancellation.
EMPLOYEES
All essential personnel are to report to work.
Nonessential staff are not required to report to campus or work remotely during a campus closure, regardless of telecommuting arrangement. However, staff must check with their supervisors to determine their team’s work plan, as some operations, deadlines and urgent items may require that nonessential staff still work during a closure. These instances are to be handled on a case-by-case basis between supervisor and employee.
Complete inclement weather details for employees are available online, including FAQs about time reporting.
SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS
For your safety, please stay indoors when possible. When traveling outdoors is necessary, exercise extreme caution to avoid frostbite, hypothermia or other cold weather health issues, which can occur quickly. Please adhere to the guidance provided by the National Weather Service.
