Workshops and Presentations
The Women's Center provides discussion based workshops and presentations that can be delivered to residence halls, student organizations, campus departments and members of the community. Each program can be presented at the Carriage House for groups of up to 20 attendees or at an alternative campus location you select.

Empower Hour!
We bring the movie, you bring the popcorn. We will be showing 30 minutes of the movie followed by a 30 minute discussion related to the issue at hand.
Girl Rising (2013)
The movie tells the stories of nine girls from different parts of the world who face arranged marriages, child slavery, and other heartbreaking injustices. despite these obstacles, the brave girls offer hope and inspiration. By getting an education, they're able to break barriers and create change.
Half the Sky (2012)
This film is a passionate call-to-arms, urging us not only to bear witness to the plight of the world's women, but ot help to transform their oppression into opportunity. Our future is in the hands of women everywhere.
Invisible War (2012)
An investigative documentary about he epidemic of rape of soldiers within the US military.
Iron Jawed Angels (2004)
Defiant young activists take the women's suffrage movement by storm, putting their lives at risk to help American women win the right to vote.
Mask You Live In (2015)
Explores how our culture's narrow definition of masculinity is harming our boys, men and society at large and unveils what we can do about it.
Miss Representation (2011)
Explores the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence in America, and challenges the media's limited portrayal of what it means to be a powerful woman.
Service: When Women Come Marching Home (2011)
This film portrays the courage of the women in service and once they have left the military; the horrific traumas they faced, the inadequate care they often receive on return and the large and small accomplishments the women work mightily to achieve. Through compelling portraits, we watch these women wrestle with prosthetics, homelessness, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Military Sexual Trauma.
Sex(Ed): The Movie (2014)
How did you first learn about sex? This film offers a revealing, occasionally awkward, and often hilarious look at how Americans have learned about sex from the early 1900s to the present. Sex(Ed) ultimately shows us that educating kids about sex is not just about conveying the facts of biology and the dangers of STD; what we learn (and how we learn it) affects our identity, our relationships, and our ability to be intimate throughout our lives.
