Kent State University faculty, staff and students who are nursing mothers have the option of using a lactation room on each of the Kent State campuses. The resource for new mothers is part of the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 (the federal health care reform law).
These rooms provide a secure space for nursing mothers, they are shielded from view, free from intrusion by co-workers and the public, and are not a restroom.
There are several designated Lactation Rooms on the Kent Campus and the Regional Campuses.
Refer to the Building Curator Directory for current list of contacts.
Use of the lactation rooms is optional for nursing moms. Employees who wish to use one of the rooms should call the phone number listed for that location prior to your first visit, to make arrangements and determine a schedule.
Please contact Human Resources for additional rights regarding the health care reform law and accommodations. If there is no space proximate to your location on campus, please direct your concerns to the Office of the University Architect Space Planning team at 672-3880.
