Professor Angela Douglass

Angela Douglass has been a nursing educator at the Kent State University at East Liverpool for 12 years. She is a graduate of Youngstown State University, where she received her BSN, as well as her MSN. 

Douglass started her nursing career at Southside Hospital. As an RN, she has experienced working in homecare, private duty, and outpatient hemodialysis. She was once the Patient Education Coordinator for Physician’s Dialysis (which later became Renal Care Group).

Douglass has a passion for nursing that shines, whether she is educating future nurses or working as a nurse herself. “Each day in a nurse’s working life presents a new opportunity to provide physical comfort and emotional support to patients, and to aid in the healing of body, mind and spirit,” she said. Douglass finds her profession to be an exciting, but demanding field that requires a strong willingness to learn and adapt to change. 

When in the classroom, Douglass has the pleasure of sharing her passion for nursing with future practitioners. “I am privileged to be a part of such a wholly human profession,” she noted. “I am making a difference in the lives of patients tenfold.” 

When Douglass is not working with patients or future nursing students, she spends time at home with her daughter, adopted beagle dog, Max, and husband of 12 years. 

With the support of family throughout her journey, Douglass has been able to handle the demanding field that is her profession. “My acceptance of the challenges that come along with nursing is so richly rewarded in the smile of a patient whose day I helped make better,” she said, “even if only in a small way.”
