Insurance studies students earn scholarships

Michael Holm presents a scholarship to Jennifer Buck.Michael Holm presents a scholarship to Lisa KessegInsurance studies students from Kent State Salem attended the recent Ohio Insurance Institute’s Insurance Education Day in Columbus, during which three were awarded scholarships. 

Representing the Salem chapter of Gamma Iota Sigma, the international risk management, insurance and actuarial science collegiate fraternity were Jennifer Buck, president; Dan Newlin, vice president; Michele Quinn, secretary; and member Lisa Kesseg.

The scholarships were presented to each of the recipients by Michael Holm, director of sales of The Institutes. 

Buck received the Griffith Insurance Education Foundation Scholarship, while Kesseg received the Francis Herzog Scholarship. Quinn received the Education Day Scholarship.

This year’s conference theme was “Insurance 360: Bringing the Future Into Focus.” 

The insurance studies program at Kent State was launched in 2012 and was the first such program to offer a bachelor degree in insurance in more than 30 years in Ohio.  Students can take classes online or at any Kent State campus.
