Fourth Spring 2018 CCI Research Colloquium to be Held on Sports Media and Health Issues

The fourth Spring 2018 CCI Research Colloquium Presentation will take place on Friday, March 23 in the Library, Room 332 at 2:15 p.m.

College of Communication and Information Ph.D. student David Cossilo will be presenting his research titled, “Sports Media and Health Issues."

Cossilo will be focusing on his own conducted research relating to media coverage of concussions in sports.

"So much of what we learn about health issues comes from media coverage. Because of that, I think it's so important to focus on how these issues are portrayed in the media. Concussions in sport is a particularly interesting area because the injury and its symptoms are so difficult to identify without proper information,” Cossilo said. “For instance, we all know what a broken leg looks like and can guess what it feels like, but concussions are a lot harder to understand."

The presentation is free of charge and all are invited to attend. The colloquium series provides an opportunity for faculty, students, staff and affiliates to foster intellectual and collaborative discussions, and to stay informed about current CCI research efforts.
