It’s official: the Flash’s Food Pantry on the Kent State Salem Campus is open!

Flash’s Food Pantry is now open to all students needing nonperishable food and/or personal care items: Room 164.

Students can contact Sherry DeWitt, the Nursing and Radiology secretary, to arrange times to visit the pantry. Her phone number is 330-337-4227 and she will be available Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. She can also be reached via email at sdewitt@kent.edu.

The pantry is not staffed; therefore, food pickups must be arranged through Sherry.

There is a suggestion box to recommend items to be stocked in the Food Pantry, but donations from faculty, staff and outside agencies are always welcome. The Food Pantry team extends its deep appreciation to everyone who has donated items and hopes that this support continues to serve our students.

Donations can include pasta, noodles, rice, instant potatoes, canned fruits and vegetables, soup, cereal, peanut butter, jelly, and personal care items such as body wash, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrushes, diapers, baby wipes and feminine hygiene products.

Aside from food and hygiene items, donations can also include gift cards such as pre-paid Visa cards or cards for Walmart, Target, Giant Eagle, etc. The cards can be given to DeWitt or sent through the mail to Flash’s Food Pantry at Kent State Salem, 2491 St. Route 45 South, Salem, Ohio, 44460. Checks cannot be accepted.
