Program Description

Full Description

The Associate of Technical Study degree in Environment Management is a completer program for students who have finished registered green industry apprenticeship or journeyman training programs. Graduates of the program are prepared to work as administrative and supervisory personnel in a variety of arboriculture, urban forestry and landscape management settings.

Admission Requirements

The university affirmatively strives to provide educational opportunities and access to students with varied backgrounds, those with special talents and adult students who graduated from high school three or more years ago.

Kent State campuses at Ashtabula, East Liverpool, Geauga, Salem, Stark, Trumbull and Tuscarawas, and the Twinsburg Academic Center, have open enrollment admission for students who hold a high school diploma, GED or equivalent.

Some programs may require that students meet certain requirements before progressing through the program. For programs with progression requirements, the information is shown on the Coursework tab.

Graduates of this program will be able to:

  1. Apply the technical skills required in the specific occupational area through the successful completion of the approved apprenticeship program.
  2. Utilize effective verbal, written, or electronic communication skills and apply them in the workplace.
  3. Apply administrative and business skills to problem solve, evaluate outcomes, and assess performance in green industry settings.
  4. Describe how to make decisions based upon ethical, organizational, and sound financial business principles.
  5. Implement appropriate tools and applications of technology to solve occupational problems.
  6. Articulate and apply management and customer service models for organizational improvement.
