From now through Sunday, Sept. 19, Cockeye Creamery, located at 1805 1/2, Parkman Rd NW in Warren, will be serving its Kent State-inspired ice cream “Black Squirrel” to raise money for Kent State University at Trumbull's Care Closet.

The Brain Health Research Institute at Kent State is very pleased to announce two new additions to its leadership: Dr. Angela Ridgel has agreed to serve as BHRI Associate Director for a three-year term starting August 1, 2021, and Dr. Julia Jones Huyck will serve as Assistant Director for the new BHRI Neurocognitive Collaboratory for a two-year term starting August 1, 2021. Assistant Professor in Science Education, Dr. Shannon Navy was recently awarded a $1,000,000 grant from the National Science Foundation. Over the next four years, this grant will fund the research project “Resources Accessed to Cultivate and Enhance Resilience” (RACER). The RACER project will focus on researching the persistence and retention of newly hired secondary science and mathematics teachers in high-need school settings.
