In 2020-21, student journalists in the Kent State School of Media and Journalism responded to the nation’s turbulent news cycle — a once-in-a-century pandemic, a combative presidential election and nationwide protests in support of racial justice and equality — by digging in and covering these issues on a local level. Fashion Focus Talk: The Stories Behind the Stories of Coco Chanel & Karl Lagerfeld

Join Director Sarah J. Rogers as she looks at the personal stories of Coco Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld; the fictions, the myths and the facts. This talk is an introduction to the exhibition opening June 11 at the KSU Museum entitled ‘Forever Chanel: Coco + Karl.’ The exhibition of garments by both designers for the House of Chanel is primarily from the museum's collection and explores the elements behind a brand that has flourished for more than 100 years.

Are you ready to take a swing for scholarships? The Kent State Tuscarawas Alumni Association is sponsoring the 20th annual Scholarship Golf Outing on Monday, June 21, at Oak Shadows Golf Club. The four-player, 18-hole scramble registration begins at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. Greens fees include light lunch and steak dinner.  Registration deadline is June 14. Downtown Kent Businesses Helped Support University Employees During Pandemic

Kent State University staff member Brenda Dillon was among hundreds of university employees who were given Blue, Gold and Grateful $20 gift certificates during the holiday season as a show of appreciation for their roles in upholding the success of the university. Kent State initiated the program with Main Street Kent to support participating downtown businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. Three students won prizes for their written papers submitted for the 2021 Kent State East Liverpool Earth Day Environmental Justice Virtual Conference.  The event took place April 24 with the theme “Rethinking Food: Equity, Plant-Based Consumption and Alternatives.” There were 29 papers submitted for judging. Marissa Price earned first place honors for her paper, “The Price of Policy.” Second place went to Rachel Booher for “The Truth Behind Harmful Waste;” and the third place prize was awarded to Kassidy Fischer for her paper, “Species Suffering Due to Climate Change.” The confe...
