A new innovative website has been developed by Wick Poetry and the Gerald H. Read Center in honor of International Mother Language Day this year. Abhishek Bagale is a senior Honors College student majoring in biotechnology and minoring in chemistry. Before graduating this spring, Abhishek plans to defend his Senior Honors Thesis in April. Abhishek first became interested in the thesis program in the spring of 2019, when he joined Dr. Gary Koski’s research lab on cancer immunology. Maya Huffman, a sophomore Honors College student with a double-major in political science and psychology and a minor in prelaw, is excited to be starting the first semester of her Senior Honors Thesis in the spring of 2021. Though only in her second year, Maya’s experiences and connections at Kent State have helped her discover a topic that she is so passionate about, she has decided to conduct an honors thesis on the issue. The Auxiliary at Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital recently donated $25,000 to Kent State University at Trumbull’s Nursing program. The gift will establish a new scholarship endowment that will provide support to nursing students from Trumbull and Mahoning Counties. The volunteer organization was established in 2017. It supports health and wellness initiatives within the local community. COVID-19 has come with its fair share of obstacles, especially for students. Luckily, for the Kent State University community, access to computer software is not one of them.
