The Student Multicultural Center (SMC) wrapped up the academic year with our Karamu Ya Wahitimu/Celebración de los Graduados cultural pre-commencement celebration. We reached another record high by having over 290 graduates register to participate in Karamu. The students shared their reflections and mentioned that they felt the event overall was excellent and that they felt valued and culturally affirmed during the ceremony. The Office of Faculty and Graduate Student Retention, Inclusion and Success, in collaboration with the Provost Office, is hosting the Access and Support for Successful Undergraduate Research Experience (ASSURE) Program for its third summer. This eight-week multidisciplinary summer research experience allows undergraduate students to conduct research under the guidance of a faculty mentor from their field of interest. Recently, the Diversity Education and Training Lab has been engaged in a Lean Higher Ed. Project with the goal of Coordinating Diversity Education and Training efforts across the division.
