Glyphix began as a full studio experience for students, and the student staffed studio was one of the first such programs in the U.S. and the prototype for many student work-study design groups now existing on university campuses. Now Glyphix is a Research Laboratory in the School of VCD. Students gain studio experience as they conduct research, develop concepts and produce design materials for clients and other stakeholders.
More than 250 participants attended the inaugural MPower Men of Color Summit hosted by the Male Empowerment Network on Oct. 14, in the Kent Student Ballroom. Insects, including dung beetles, are essential contributors to our ecosystem, but their populations are facing alarming declines, according to recent research. A 2019 study from the journal Biological Conservation revealed that 40% of insect species are at risk of extinction, with some populations declining at rates eight times faster than mammals, birds and reptiles.
