The School of Theatre and Dance faculty and alumni are collaborating on a new play, Piedmont Point. Written by alumnus Scott Miesse (’15), Piedmont Point centers around a retirement complex in southern Florida. The play is set to premiere on August 25, 2023 to a sold-out crowd at Theatre Row, an Off-Broadway playhouse in NYC. Additional performances will be on August 26 at 8 p.m. and August 27 at 2 p.m. In addition to Miesse, the show features other Kent State faculty and alumni. The Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Technology focuses primarily on the applied aspects of science and engineering and prepares graduates for practice in that portion of the technological spectrum closest to product improvement, manufacturing, construction and engineering operational functions.
The Engineering Technology major comprises the following concentrations:

First-Year Students on the Kent Campus: First-year admission policy on the Kent Campus is selective. Admission decisions are based upon cumulative grade point average, strength of high school college preparatory curriculum and grade trends. Students not admissible to the Kent Campus may be administratively referred to one of the seven regional campuses to begin their college coursework. First-Year Students on the Regional Campuses: First-year admission to Kent State’s campuses at Ashtabula, East Liverpool, Geauga, Salem, Stark, Trumbull and Tuscarawas, as well as the Twinsburg Academic Center, is open to anyone with a high school diploma or its equivalent. The Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Technology is accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET, www.abet.org.
The Associate of Applied Science degree in Technical Modeling Design prepares students for entry-level positions as technical illustrators, drafter/designer technicians in business and computer animation and game design industries, as well as in the field of multimedia development. Computer-aided design (CAD) is used throughout the program for computer modeling and multimedia development.
The degree program articulates with the CAD for Manufacturing undergraduate certificate, the Bachelor of Science degree in Animation Game Design and other select bachelor's degrees at Kent State.
The university affirmatively strives to provide educational opportunities and access to students with varied backgrounds, those with special talents and adult students who graduated from high school three or more years ago.
Kent State campuses at Ashtabula, East Liverpool, Geauga, Salem, Stark, Trumbull and Tuscarawas, and the Twinsburg Academic Center, have open enrollment admission for students who hold a high school diploma, GED or equivalent.
