Since 1968, Porthouse Theatre has entertained scores of Northeast Ohio audiences and provided training opportunities for countless developing theatre artists. Every summer, more than 20,000 guests enjoy the Porthouse experience, picnicking with friends and family before enjoying a professional production in our comfortable 500 seat covered outdoor theatre.

In accordance with the order of Ohio Department of Health director Amy Acton, M.D. to stay at home to slow the spread of COVID-19, Porthouse Theatre regretfully announces the cancellation of its 2020 season, scheduled for June 11 – August 9, 2020.

As a result of this difficult decision, the productions of Little Shop of Horrors, BKLYN, and West Side Story will not take place as scheduled and Porthouse’s grounds will be closed.

  • Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Porthouse Theatre has decided to cancel all of its educational programs for the summer of 2020, including the High School Shadow Program, the Porthouse College Academy, and the Porthouse International Academy.

  • Today’s Flashes of Inspiration comes from Eric van Baars, director of Kent State University’s School of Theatre and Dance, an associate professor, and executive producer for the Porthouse Theatre, who offers an inspirational pep talk to all of us confined at home.
