Hispanic Heritage Month
National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15th-October 15th)
National Hispanic Heritage Month recognizes and celebrates the heritage, culture and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans. Hispanic Heritage Month begins on September 15th to commemorate Independence Day for five Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Hispanic Heritage month began in 1968 as National Hispanic Heritage week. In 1988, it was expanded to a month-long celebration.
Kent State University is proud to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with this calendar of events. These events are great opportunities to celebrate the culture, learn more about the heritage, and bring groups together. The celebration is a University-wide celebration for all cultures to celebrate the Hispanic and Latino Heritage. Come out and attend some of the events as well as encourage and bring others with you!
